Starting a New Society
If you would like to start a new society, you might consider getting affiliated to the
Students’ Union. Societies that have
20 or more members and follow the rules and guidelines of the Students’ Union can get
funding and administrative help. Details about the Students’ Union rules can be found
here.
On kentsocs.org, societies affiliated to the Students’ Union are
marked .
If you think of starting a new Religious Society, you might want to get affiliated to the
University Chaplaincy, which offers
support and help. Details about the societies currently affiliated to the Chaplaincy can
be found here.
These societies are marked on kentsocs.org.
Affiliations to the Students’ Union and the Chaplaincy are independent — a society can
be affiliated to either or both of them. The Kent Societies Directory will list
all societies that wish — irrespective of whether they are affiliated
to one of the above bodies — as long as they act lawfully. Just notify us
when your society is active and running and we will list it in the appropriate section.
